| Pass percentage in Rajasthan Board Class 10 exams up by 20 pc July 06, 2009 Ajmer: The Board of Secondary Education of Rajasthan (BOSER) announced the merit list of the Secondary (Class 10) Examinations 2009 here on Sunday. The percentage of students, who have passed the Class 10 exams this year, is highest in the last 9 years. With an increase of about 20pc in the pass percentage, the Board's decision to introduce Internal Assessment in the last session seems to have worked in favour of the students. This year, schools were allowed to give upto 20pc marks in each subject on the basis of Internal Assessment. Out of 9,74,138 candidates who appeared for the examination, 7,12,624 students were declared successful (passed) - a pass percentage of 73.15pc this year. 73.39pc girls and 73.02pc boys have passed the Class 10 exams this year. Ravi Khandelwal from Vivekanand Vidhya Bhavan of Jaipur topped the merit list with a percentage of 97.17pc. He owed his success to his hard work. Vikas Kumar from Saraswati Vidhya Pith of Sikar with 96.83pc and Vikesh Singh from Jhunjhunu with 96.17pc were declared 2nd and 3rd on the merit list. As compared to this year, the closest highest pass percentage in the Class 10 exams was 60.08pc in 2004. Last year only 53.45pc students got through the exams whereas in 2007 and 2006, the figures stood at 48.45pc and 54.27pc respectively. The results will be announced today at 4 pm.
