Rajasthan University cancels exams till June 7

Jaipur: The University of Rajasthan today, here, cancelled all examinations scheduled till June 7th in view of the protest campaign by the Gujjar community demanding more government benefits.

Officials at the varsity also postpone the written test for the state administrative services which was to be conducted on June 8th by the Rajasthan Public Service Commission (RPSC).

The Railway Recruitment Board, Ajmer also called off an examination which was to be conducted for appointment of ticket collectors.

Prolonged rioting by the Gujjar community, which began in Rajasthan, has degenerated into bloodshed. The protests have now spread to the neighbouring states as well.

The Gujjars want to be included in a list of Scheduled Tribes to avail of more benefits from the central and state government.
