ISRO to launch foreign satellites in 2009

January 07, 2009

Bangalore: The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) has already created a niche for itself among the international space research organisations by launching Chandrayaan on 22nd October, 2008. Now, it is the time for Indian Space Professionals to feel their presence strong in the international satellite-building and launch service.

This prospect of ISRO is not far behind as ISRO will launch four foreign satellites this year.

ISRO made significant improvements two weeks ago by successfully launching communication satellite W2M, built by ISRO in partnership with EADS-Astrium of Europe.

ISRO official K.R. Sridhara Murthy said, "The Indian space agency is gearing up to launch four satellites of Singapore, Netherlands, Italy and Algeria in 2009."

If everything goes as planned then ISRO will be the desirable centre of space research for international space research professionals soon.
