Ramanathapuram (Tamil Nadu): Addressing a gathering of students at the Syed Ammal Engineering College here today, former President Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam said that India offers plenty of opportunities in the fields of education and employment and minority communities must take full advantage of them.
Dr. Kalam stressed that, "People belonging to the minority communities should shun the thought of being minorities. Everyone must consider himself equal in this country".
"India offers plenty of opportunities in the fields of education and employment. Those who are meritorious, efficient and skilled can achieve anything whoever they may be," he added.
On the Chandrayaan Mission planned by the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO), Dr. Kalam said, "The Chandrayaan Mission would give several wonderful pictures of the universe. A geological and geographical survey will be made through the mission."
The Syed Ammal Engineering College is a self-financing institution affiliated to Anna University, Chennai.
It offers four undergraduate programmes in the field of Engineering.
