UGC to provide financial grants to institutions for academic reforms

New Delhi: Here is good news for those pursuing their M.Phil and PhD. form little known universities in the country will soon be able to study for six month in top Indian universities like Jwaharlal Nehru University (JNU) or Bombay University.

This was announced by the University Grants Commission (UGC) as UGC has decided to offer financial grants to institutions to adopt academic reforms.

Dr. Sukhdeo Thorat, Chairman, UGC said, "A boy enrolled in a university in Bhagalpur (Bihar) will be able to join a course in JNU for a semester and earn credits for his course in Bhagalpur."

"All these reforms are expected to put into operation from coming academic year. 72 institutions have already agreed to implement the reforms," added Dr. Thorat.
