Agartala: Girls have secured the first three positions among the top 10 in the Tripura higher secondary examination results announced on Wednesday.

"Among the 10 toppers, there are four girl students, three of whom have bagged the first three positions," said Pratush Ranjan Deb, secretary the Tripura Board of Secondary Examination (TBSE).

"Girls have fared better than boys in both urban and rural areas."

The overall pass percentage this year has increased to 75.79 from 73.50 percent last year - an all-time record after the TBSE was constituted in 1976.

Some 16,154 candidates, including 6,423 female candidates, sat for the exams.

Four of the 10 toppers were from rural areas.
