HRD Ministry releases full Pay Review Committee report

New Delhi: The Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD) today released a full report prepared by the Pay Review Committee (PRC), formed to revise the pay scales of University and college teachers.

The Pay Review Committee, after detailed deliberations, made several recommendations about various aspects of revision of pay and allowances, service and working conditions of teachers, librarians, directors of physical education and other academic staff in colleges and universities recognized by the University Grants Commission (UGC).

Full Report of the Pay Review Committee (PRC)

The PRC headed by Prof. G.K. Chadha, former Vice-Chancellor of Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU), recommended a 70 percent hike in the pay scales of university and college teachers.

Teachers however said, "The Committee was setup to revise the pay scales to attract and retain talent. Only an increase in the basic salary will attract new talents to the profession and not an increase in the allowances."
