IGNOU to conduct workshop on Food Safety sector
New Delhi: The Indira Gandhi National Open University's (IGNOU's) School of Agriculture (SOA) and Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) is organizing a two-day workshop on development of educational framework for human resource in food safety sector in the city on November 3-4 2011.

"The main focus of the workshop will be to discuss on the issues for meeting the human resource requirement of the food safety sector for the next 10 years so as to ensure the availability of safe and wholesome food to the consumers. The objective of the workshop is framing the structure and modalities to develop food safety professionals who will be competent in planning, developing and implementation of food safety and quality management aspects at national level," said Prof. M.K. Salooja, Director, SOA, IGNOU.

Experts from educational institutions, private organisations involved in food business, government functionaries, food industry and laboratories will be participating in the workshop. The recommendations will help to develop appropriate training and educational programmes for different stakeholders in the food chain namely - food handlers, food auditors and food analysts.
