New Delhi: An integral telecom system within the campus of the Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) will be operational by the end of this month.
The telecom system will enhance the varsity's contact with its learners, sources say.
1500 free EPABX connections will be provided under the system; which can be expanded to 3,000 extensions.
A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was recently signed between IGNOU and Mahanagar Telecom Nigam Limited (MTNL) for the telecom system.
The IGNOU think-tank is also mulling on how to tap opportunities for a mini call-centre on campus.
Prof. S.K. Vyas, reader at School of Engineering and Technology says, "As it will be a mini set up in the university, probably we can handle learners' queries with better service delivery".
