Kolkata: The Presidency University Council is working on ways to offer better pay package to teachers and also urging the state government to clarify the process of recruitment, informed university's officials.

They are seeking clarification from the government by January 15, 2012 regarding recruitment of the faculty. Once they will be clear about process, advertisement for the recruitment of University's faculty will be put on.

The Council wants to give better remuneration as compared to other states, in order to attract world class teachers.

The first set of recommendation has been submitted to Chief Minister Mamata Banarjee in August. Howerver, the government has not clarified yet as how to go forward in implementing these recommendations.

The University recommended paying compensation to its teacher at par with the Central Universities. Besides, it also envisages financing visit of teachers to foreign universities twice a year.

When the above mentioned recommendations will be implemented only then foreign scholars and faculty would love to join Presidency.

Malabika Sarkar, Vice-Chancellor said that the council has decided to set up 'Vice-Chancellors Fund' in order to raise funds for university. Alumni, corporate houses and common people can contribute to it.
