Aligarh: The Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) has established another milestone in the field of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Development by launching the 3G/Wimax service and the subject Gateway.
The university organized a two-day workshop on Web Content Management at Maulana Azad Library and inaugurated a Subject Gateway Library at the Department of Information and Library Science.
Prof. P.K. Abdul Azis, Vice Chancellor of varsity said that the present era is information based and here, only those nations and individuals can survive who have knowledge power.
He further added that along with the Wi-max Communication Technology, online journals and books are also available for faster and easy internet connectivity. According to him Web Content Management is and important field and Subject Gateway will allow teachers and researchers to access latest data and knowledge immediately.
Chief Guest, Prof. P.B. Mangla, Delhi University said that disseminating knowledge is more important than acquiring it for which, Subject Gateway is necessary. He called upon research scholars to use the new facility with precision.
Guest of Honour, Dr. R.K. Chadha, Joint Secretary in Parliament said that earlier, knowledge was transmitted while now, it can be used in different ways for socializing purpose. He also mentioned that young generation should be given opportunities to express their views.
