Lucknow: The Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) on Thursday inaugurated a high-tech library for its medical students to access journals from across the globe online, a varsity official said.

Registrar of the varsity, Professor V.K. Abdul Jaleel inaugurated the Medlers Center at the Faculty Library, Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College today.

The Medlars Center has been developed at the Faculty Library with financial support from National Medical Library under the project 'Interlinking Government Medical College Libraries in India'.

The project has been equipped with phase-wise computer hardware, software, air-conditioners and internet connectivity for upgradation of the Medical Library.

In Uttar Pradesh, only two Libraries have been selected so far. One is KGMC, Lucknow and the other is JN Medical College Library, AMU.

A vast number of online journals and database would now be available free of charge at the Medlers Center.

Prof. Abu Qamar Siddiqui, Dean, Faculty of Medicine; Prof. Shaista Wasanwala; Mr. Shakeel Ahmad, University Librarian and Mr. Aslam Mahdi, Deputy Librarian also addressed the inaugural ceremony.
