| RSS for overhauling educational system March 17, 2008 Vrindavan (Uttar Pradesh): The Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangdh (RSS) on Saturday called for a revamp of the education system to orient it towards the task of nation building. The RSS representative body, holding its three-day annual meet, which began here on Friday, spelt out its policies through resolutions that were adopted unanimously. The resolution on education said the education system of a country should fulfil the aim of all-round development of the student's personality, inculcate a feeling of national pride and social responsibility and contribute to the needs of national development. "But our education system has by and large failed on all these counts," it said. It also noted that the entry of foreign educational service providers in a big way with purely commercial motives was a matter of concern. The RSS favoured promotion of local languages as medium of instruction. Another resolution on the status of women in India said: "It must be ensured that there is no discriminatory behaviour against them and their participation in the decision-making process is always upheld.
