Transport facility for female students in AMU
Aligarh: The Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) has planned to facilitate transport services to the female students of Abdllah Hall, Begum Sultan Jahan Hall of Residence and Indira Gandhi Hall.

The decision was taken in a meeting held to discuss the mode of transport services, frequency, operation of the buses and routes. The meeting was chaired by officiating Vice-Chancellor, Prof. S. Mehdi Abbas Rizvi. A committee was formed under the convenership of DSW with Proctor, MIC (CAW) as members.

The private bus operators will be permitted and the monthly charges of the transportation will be paid by commuters themselves. It was also decided that Proctor will facilitate at least one security guard on the bus and no male or outsider will be allowed to board in. It was urged to the girl students to avail this facility form their Residents or Hall to the department of studies.

In another meeting, the decision was taken for providing ATM facility of State Bank of India (SBI) in the Abdullah Hall and other places in the campus. Rizvi said that he had already met the Branch Manager of SBI regarding this.
