Noida: Uttar Pradesh Technical University (UPTU) will hold semester examinations from March 27, for students who had carried over in some papers. The exams were earlier scheduled to be held in May; now it will be held along with other even semester examinations.

According to UPTU Controller of Examination V.K. Singh - "The exams are scheduled to be commenced from March 27 and end on April 16. For this particular examination only two examination centers have been allotted - one in Lucknow and the other in Noida.

As per new rules for new syllabus students, the students have to pass the compartment in the next year's semester examinations. The student who does not clear it would be allowed to appear in next semester. Moreover, if the student has more than four carry over in any year will be detained; it means he/she will loose one year.

Adding to this, Mr. B.N. Roy, Director of IEC College of Engineering said, "After 2004-05 the new syllabus was introduced for B.Tech and B.Pharma. Though students of 2004 batch were expected to have completed the course by 2007, several students, who were having carry-overs in some subjects, were experiencing difficulties. University has preponed the examinations for them. It will save 2 months. Earlier these carry over exams were scheduled to be held in May along with other even semester examinations."

According to UPTU sources, the admit cards to students having carry over, would be issued at Examination Centre a day or two before the Examinational Schedule. Students will have to carry identification card from their respective institutes.
