Lucknow: The Uttar Pradesh Madrassa Board, which governs around 1,900 seminaries in the state, is to revise its syllabi in consultation with experts and educationists, an official said on Wednesday.

"The move intends to make madrassa education more competitive and informative in sync with today's time and demands," said board registrar Shoaib Ahmad.

The board will organise workshops across the state from next month to get suggestions from experts in various fields, he added.

Around 170,000 students studying in seminaries across the state will benefit from the revised syllabi.

The Uttar Pradesh Madrassa Board was set up in 1914. At that time it functioned under the name of Arabic-Persian Registrar Board. In 2007, the government granted it the status of an education board. IANS
