Uttarakhand proposes new scheme for MBBS students

Dehradun: A new scheme has been proposed by the Khanduri Government for providing MBBS education at an annual fee of Rs.15,000 to students who are willing to serve for five years in the remote areas of the state after completion of the course.

State Principal Secretary for Medical Education, Vijendra Pal said, "The new scheme has been proposed to ensure medical facility at or near the remote areas where doctors generally do not prefer to do a job or setup private practice centres."

"Students who are willing to enroll out of the five-year service bond will have to pay Rs.35 lakhs to the Government", added Pal.

State Governments across the country have, for long, emphasized on the need for doctors to take up work in the remote villages.
