CPI asked Banarjee to shift class 10 exam date
Kolkata: Communist Party of India (CPI) leader Gurudas Dasgupta on Tuesday appealed to West Bengal Chief Minister, Mamata Banerjee to change the date of Class 10 history exam as it coincides with the general trade union strike on Feb 28, 2012.

"I appeal to West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee not to create an artificial conflict between strike and education. I would request her to postpone the date of the exam as the general strike has been called throughout the country and the date cannot be changed," said Dasgupta.

All the major trade unions of the country have called a 24-hour countrywide general strike Feb 28, 2012 ahead of the presentation of the general budget.

The strike call has set off political controversies, with ruling Trinamool Congress blaming the Left for being insensitive to the cause of students.
