Kolkata: A Kolkata-based non-government organisation (NGO) was conferred with an Italian honour for its work among school children here.

Kallol Ghosh, founder and chief executive officer of Organisation for Friends, Energies and Resources (OFFER), was given the "Knight of the Order of the Star of Solidarity of the Italian Republic" award on Thursday night by the Italian Consul-General in Kolkata Bruno Campria.

Campria said OFFER has for a long time been collaborating with the Italian NGOs in welfare projects for school children.

"It has also worked for the upliftment of the other needy sections of society, an initiative greatly appreciated in Italy," he said. IANS
