New Delhi: Several colleges under Delhi University (DU) are witnessing withdrawal of admissions after the Second Cut-Off List was announced here on Tuesday.

Gargi College alone witnessed as many as 60 withdrawals on Day 1 of admissions as per the Second Cut-Off List.

Against 1000 seats in the college; 955 seats have already been filled. Around 70 students from the Other Backward Classes (OBCs) have been admitted to the college till now.

"Students in few Science courses have been over-admitted, as it is a trend that many students drop-out at a later stage", said Meera Ramachandran, Principal, Gargi College.

The scenario was not different at Hans Raj College where 100 students were admitted in Science and Humanity courses each, out of which 80 students withdrew admissions.

"We already have got 1,200 students admitted against the 1,000 seats available but we are concerned over the poor admissions of OBC students as only 25 students have got admitted against the 200 seats reserved for them in all the courses," said S.R. Arora, Principal, Hans Raj College.

Sri Venkateswara College also admitted nearly 211 students on Wednesday, taking the total number of admissions to 1,187. The college has so far admitted 81 OBC candidates; this includes the 22 students admitted on Wednesday.

Indraprastha College for Women has admitted more than 700 candidates till now, but only 20 girls withdrew admission on Wednesday.

Nearly 15 candidates from the OBC category deposited their fees for admission on Wednesday. Around 27 students had taken admission in that category after the first cut-off list was released.
