Pearson VUE announces the LSAT India 2010

New Delhi: Pearson VUE, the global leader in computer–based testing for academic, professional and licensure examinations, has announced the prestigious Law School Admission Test—India, by LSAC (LSAT—India). The LSAT—India is a special version of the renowned LSAT® (Law School Admission Test) conducted globally by the Law School Admission Council (LSAC). The LSAT—India has been specially designed by the LSAC for use by law schools in India. It is a standardized test designed to measure critical thinking skills, such as logical reasoning and problem solving – skills that are considered essential for success in law school. The test will be conducted across several cities in India and abroad by Pearson VUE,

Candidates have the benefit of taking a single entrance test – the LSAT—India – and get considered for the admissions process of multiple law colleges in India. The colleges participating in the test this year include Jindal Global Law School (JGLS), Law College Dehradun, MATS Law School Raipur and The ICFAI Law School Dehradun.

"The Law School Admission Council created the LSAT—India specifically to serve the admission needs of India's law schools and students. As an increasing number of India's law schools adopt the test as their primary admission instrument, we expect the availability of testing sites and dates to expand. We are pleased to participate in this important effort to provide state-of-the-art law school admission measurement tools in India," Dan Bernstine, President, Law School Admission Council.

"We are pleased to announce the LSAT—India for the 2010 admissions year. This test is the gold standard in measuring skills required for excellence in the legal profession. After taking the LSAT—India, candidates will have access to the admissions process of the multiple participating colleges through a single sitting. With this test being delivered in several international locations, it offers unmatched access for the participating colleges to reach international students," said Sarvesh Shrivastava, Managing Director, Asia Pacific, for Pearson VUE.

He further said, "Based on the appreciation and positive feedback received last year, we will continue with the Pearson Law Scholarships and Test Fee Waiver scheme for the meritorious students from LSAT—India".

The test will be conducted in a paper and pencil format in India on Sunday, 16th May 2010, and in a computer–based test (CBT) format for countries outside India on 16th of May 2010. Registration for candidates started earlier this month and will continue till 19th April 2010. There is a late registration window for candidates testing within India, and they can register by paying an additional fee till the 30th of April, 2010.
